Forging teaching cooperation, International College visits Mahidol University Research Institute for Language and Cultures of Asia

Executing the Ministry of Education’s New South Bound Policy, Associate Professor Je-Wen Liou, Dean of International College, together with fellow academics and staffs called upon Thailand Mahidol University Research Institute for Language and Cultures of Asia on 22 Jan and was welcomed by Assistant Professor Nuntiya Doungphummes, Deputy Director for Communications and Academic Services.

Mahidol University was established in 1890 as Thailand’s first university, constantly ranking within the top three universities of Thailand. The university namesake was granted by the late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej after his Father, Prince Mahidol of Songkla, widely known as the ‘Father of Modern Medicine and Public Health in Thailand’.

Tzu Chi University and Mahidol University inked the status of partner universities in 2005 and relationships have grown stronger over the years. The visit to Mahidol University Research Institute for Language and Cultures of Asia further develops the possibility of Chinese-Thai educator exchange as well as mutual student exchange. Research collaboration on the medical and teaching assistance rendered to refugees in Thailand by Tzu Chi will also be further explored.
